No, it has not improved any since last Thursday, had a good look at it having descended no 4 gully at the end of the day.
My mate Jim, was keen on doing the point, that was plan A. From The CIC hut we could only see one team at the route, however when we entered observatory gully ,we could see several teams heading in that direction. Thinking that some may be heading for Hadrians wall ,we carried on regardless -big mistake- by the time we reached the base of the point five, there were 12 climbers in front of us. So having watched some shenanigans with 7 guys now ensconsed on the first belay, we decided to remove ourselves from a potentially difficult position. We ended up doing observatory buttress, which was difficult under the conditions, poor runners and belays - very few and far between - and vertical crud to contend with. Anyway MRX will have to wait for another day. rain check?.
